The LMML Foundation Receives a Grant From the City of Elk Grove

At the Elk Grove City Council meeting on March 22, 2017, the Council unanimously approved the Linda Mae Mahon Lema Foundation request for a Community Service Grant of $10,240 for Fiscal Year 2017-2018. These funds will be used exclusively to make new recordings of local Elk Grove histories as well as to preserve existing oral history recordings, principally, the Elizabeth Pinkerton Collection.

The processes employed by the Foundation for both types of recording activities include:

• Original taping and conversion of existing tapes in current formats

• Editing the raw tapings to create podcasts

• Transcribing the podcasts into written form

• Archiving both podcasts and transcriptions for transfer to the applicable Historical Society

This is an exciting milestone for the Foundation and we are so grateful to the Mayor, Vice Mayor, City Council, and the City Management and Staff for their guidance and support in our request for grant funding to underwrite our work. This is a major step forward in the evolution of the LMML Foundation.
